I read this (Okay, I HEARD it, since I'm listening to the audiobook) in David Sedaris' book
When You Are Engulfed in Flames, a book of personal essays. Sedaris, who grew up in an upper-middle class family, is describing a poor woman that his parents hired to watch him and his brother and sisters while his parents were on vacation:
She had this attitude: not that she was better than us, but that she was as good as us!
I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.
