I went to Google News just now, and I was just blown away by the bad news. I mean, I'm a pretty positive guy, but even I've noticed that there have been some SERIOUSLY disturbing news reports lately. Things have been so bad that the hurricane that hit Houston--which people say may be economically more devastating than Katrina--has been pushed off the front page.Here are two of the main stories from yesterday:
1) Our economy is on the decline. The DOW fell below 10,000 for the first time in four years!
2) Apparently our nation's morals are on the decline as well! Each of the Presidential candidates is complaining that the other isn't ethically fit to be President!
3) And to top it all off, it isn't enough that are economy is in decline, that our nation and its leaders are in decline, or even that--thanks to global warming--our species might be in decline. According to new study release yesterday, our entire class of vertebrates may be in decline!
It's enough to make an optimist feel fatalistic.
