Snowed in

Two Monday's ago (January 26) I came home from work and parked my car at the top of our driveway. I started to turn off the ignition and then it occurred to me: there was a forecast of significant snow the next day, and if my city called for a snow emergency I would need to get the minivan off of the street. We still haven't cleaned out the garage from our move two months ago so that we could get one of the vehicles into the garage, so I pulled the Camry down to the bottom of the driveway and parked the minivan at the top.

And the Camry has been down there ever since.

When we had 4 inches of snow followed by a 1/2 inch of ice and then another 5 inches of snow it was hard enough just to get the van out of the TOP of the driveway, much less get the Camry out of the bottom of the driveway, so I didn't worry about it. And then this past Tuesday afternoon we got a surprise of an additional 5 inches of snow, and that pretty much doomed us. The car is stuck. Wednesday Lisa came home and said, "Oh, by the way, we're definitely going to need two vehicles tomorrow!" I went outside and dug and dug, chipped and chipped, but the car was going nowhere. After almost an hour of shoveling I managed to get the car an additional foot and a half DOWN the driveway, but it ain't coming up until the snow and ice melt.
Today is supposed to be a nicer day, in the 50's, and so is the rest of the week. I'm hoping that by this coming Monday I'll be able to get the car out of the driveway. At that point it will have been two weeks exactly.

Wish us luck.
