The New Joe Biden

Before I even begin this post, let me just say...that Joe Biden comment on TV news about telling his family not to fly and not to be in close quarters around people...that was awesome! Great stuff! I am so glad Obama chose this guy to keep us all entertained for four years!

That said, it would appear that Kentucky Senator Jim Bunning is gunning to be the Right's Joe Biden. He has said some really outrageous things over the last few months, and his latest rant against Senate Minority Leader and Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell will keep Rachel Maddow and Keith Olberman salivated for days. It's good stuff. Read it here.

Honestly, no joking aside, I think there's something wrong with Bunning. As in mentally. I'm no politician, but even I know you don't say some of the things he's said lately. I think he's mentally unstable, and I hope he leaves politics soon...not because I have a problem with his positions or because I find him an embarrassment to Kentucky, but because I think he needs help and he needs to rest.

First I think Biden was absolutely correct, if he wasn't then why did they close schools, wear masks? But I also think our public health statement about not closing the US/Mexico border was stupid. The problem was in Mexico lets see 1000 dead er I meant 10 er I think they died. But we must remember a illegal, border-crossing Mexican becomes a Democratic Voter; Its all about votes!

I agree with Jim Bunning about leadership of the party, it appears to me there is a lacking of leadership in the Republican Party. The Democrats have been very good about slipping bananna peels under the Republican shoes and the Republicans welcome the banannas with stupid actions. Politics sucks, I found that out when I ran Ross Perot's campaign for the 4th congressional district and briefed Jim Bunning. But that is a long story. It is easy to find fault with both parties; it is all about money; using our money to buy votes! Sweasy for Congress er what happened to Sweasy for Supreme Court justice?

I have no idea why they closed schools and wore masks. People completely overreacted to the Swine Flu. That's not to say that I don't think a pandemic or even an epidemic is around the corner. I believe it is. But I also believe it's going to hit us when we aren't expecting it, and Swine Flu and before that Bird Flu are not going to be the culprits.

I agree with Bunning, too. The Repulican leadership has seriously screwed up over the last decade. Remember when Newt Gingrich was the Speaker of the House and he layed out his--I forget what it's called--something like his "Contract with America" or something like that? That was genius! The Republicans then were the heroes. Maybe it's all cyclical and we'll be back there again in a few years, but I don't know--the Republicans have done some dumb things.

That said, Jim Bunning's comments--right or wrong--are not the things you say in public if you want to stay in politics very much longer.
